Greeting, Mortals!

Wondering what happens to #lightsverdict cards? We have great news regarding the balance for Mortal Judgement: Light's Verdict packs! Managed to snipe the mighty Martyr of Whiteplain or pulled any prized possessions, cue in Thaeriel's Cultists, read on.

TL;DR: NO HARD NERFS

First, there will be only 1 balance update to all Mortal Judgement: Light's Verdict cards, and they'll be locked in this week itself. The changes will include minor stat edits (mana cost, attack, health and the like) rather than changing up any cards too drastically. We're simply applying a final layer of polish, and we will roll out those changes in the next few days.

Current List Of Changes To Mortal Judgement: Light's Verdict Cards

  • The Divine Coronet - Mana cost changed
  • Change mana cost from 4 to 5
  • Balance Note: Divine Coronet has been performing as expected in most decks, but is seeing extra success in Magic Combo decks. By increasing the casting cost to 5 we’ll be slowing down the combo and the Coronet in general by a turn keeping it in line with similar combo decks.
  • Pyrrhic Knowledge - Text changed
  • Change text from
  • "Soulless. Pull a spell to your hand from your void and obliterate cards from the top of your deck equal to its mana cost, then set the pulled spell's cost to 0. Obliterate the pulled spell at the end of your turn".
  • to
  • "Soulless. Pull a spell with mana cost 7 or less from your void to your hand, and obliterate cards from the top of your deck equal to its mana cost. Set the spell's cost to 0. Obliterate it at the end of your turn".
  • Balance Note: We made this change to Pyrrhic Knowledge to future-proof it and allow our upcoming designs more flexibility.
  • Blade of Whiteplain - Stats Changed
  • Attack/Health stats changed from 4/4 to 3/3
  • Balance Note: Blade of Whiteplain is a strong reactive option giving players some chance to get back in the game, which we like. It also has proven to be a stronger draw engineer than we intended. To reduce the chance of constant draws and make it less sticky to the board, stats are now reduced to 3/3.
  • Shines On Us All - Text changed
  • Change text from "Target a creature, then delve a creature of the same tribe. Each creature transforms into a base copy of itself."
  • to
  • "Target a creature. If it has a tribe, delve a creature of the same tribe and add it to your hand.
  • Each creature transforms into a base copy of itself."
  • Balance Note: The change in text now clearly states what will happen when you target a creature from another tribe. There is a slight modification to text to clarify functionality. No change to functionality.
  • The Dearly Departed - Text Changed
  • Change text from
  • "Soulless. Roar: Obliterate a creature in your opponent's hand.
  • Afterlife: Add a base copy of the obliterated creature to the opponent's hand".
  • to
  • "Soulless. Roar: Obliterate a creature in your opponent's hand.
  • Afterlife: Add a base copy of the obliterated creature to your opponent's hand".
  • Balance Note: minor text cleanup

That's all for now. By sharing these upcoming changes up front, we hope the community can plan decks better and be more at ease!

Next, as we mentioned in our balance update last month, there will be another one soon to change up the meta. It's slated to go live within the month and will only encompass changes to regular Mortal Judgement and Core Set Refresh cards.

Until next time, Mortals.
